In the future, I hope to play the 3DO, PS1, and Saturn versions as well. I've played the original version (the first version of the game I've ever played), and let me tell you: The game is literally the ride of your life, more so than Snatcher, another excellent Kojima game, ever was. Watching these clips, you can easily see the dramatic change that the game made (from a slightly-updated version of Snatcher, to an FMV-anime-cutscene fest), in the 2 years that the game was released on various consoles, and in the 6 years (yes, you read right!) that it took Kojima to make this game. Last but not least, here are a few of videos of the original version: Or you can try purchasing a real PC-9821 and a real copy of the game on Rinkya. Overall, if you really enjoy the game on the home console versions, then you should consider trying this version out. The bomb defusal scene is also done differently, and in some cases, harder too. There is also no final encounter with Tokugawa like there was in the home console versions.

There are also a few scenes in this version that were cut some of them were eventually reinstated in the Saturn version, and the room where you fight Salvatore looks entirely different, as well. This version also has the largest amount of dialogue (about 8 hours worth were recorded for this version). The music is different in some parts too. Some scenes also play a bit differently, as well. This version also featured "Snatcher-style" talking heads at the bottom of the image window, and contained a few scenes, and a few bits of dialogue not found in the home console versions. Keep in mind that the PC-9821 home computer could only display 16 colors at a time, proving that sometimes, you can have a game with old-fashioned hand-drawn pixels, and the illustrations would still be beautiful-looking. They all look really nice and detailed in this version. The game originally featured hand-drawn pixel stills, instead of anime style cutscenes that the home console versions featured. Most PC98 game, up until that point, were released in floppy disk format. When the game was first released, it was one of the first, if not the first game to be released in CD-ROM format. The original version is by far the rarest version of the game (even in Japan), and for good reason, too: None of the NEC home computers that were released only in Japan were ever released outside of Japan. But have you ever played the original version of the game? The original version was released in 1994 on NEC's line of PC-9821 home computers. Chances also are that you have played the most familiar versions of the game, those being the home console versions (3DO, Playstation, and Saturn). If you're a die-hard fan of Hideo Kojima and his work, then chances are you have played Policenauts, which is regarded by many of his fans as his most epic game ever made.
